John was born in Germany and came to the U.S. circa 1848. He married Caroline Fredrick sometime after 1850, and they had 2 sons, Henry Campen & Louis Campen. After Caroline's death, John married secondly Charlotte (Heinickin) Schneider on Mar. 2, 1862. He died at the age of 66 years & 9 months.
