Son of William Thompson Johnson and Margaret Caroline Taft. Husband of Emma Dubuar (daughter of Rev. James Francois and Mary Aurelia (Purdy) Dubuar)

   "DEATH OF WILLIAM P. JOHNSON.
After more than three years and a half of patient suffering, during which everything was done to relieve him ... William Pitt Johnson passed away at his home on Main street in this village Monday forenoon...
The deceased was born in Northville township January 4th, 1854, and his whole life was spent in this immediate community. In August 18, 1875, he was united in marriage to Miss Emma Dubuar, the devoted and faithful wife who survives him and who has been constant in her tender care of him during all the months and weeks of his illness. The union was blessed with six children, one daughter, who preceded her father to the grave some years ago, and five sons, who survive him--Otto of Spokane, Washington, Arthur and Ray of Los Angeles, Cal, Benjamin of San Francisco and Lawrence of Plymouth. He is also survived by one brother Charles Johnson of Rochester, N.Y. and two sisters Mesdames Alice Rockwell and Mary [sic] Dean of Bozeman, Montana.
Mr Johnson was engaged in lumbering, farming and in the grocery business during his lifetime and many there are among our citizens who will recall with pleasure their business relations with him....
Funeral services were held at his late home Wednesday afternoon and were attended by a large number of old friends and acquaintances Numerous floral tributes attested to the esteem in which the deceased was held by his friends and neighbors. Burial took place at Rural Hill cemetery."
