AGED ADAMS COUNTY RESIDENT DIES SUDDENLY AT HOME NEAR MONROE

Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Engle, 82, of near Monroe, a lifelong resident of Adams County, died suddenly at her home Tuesday morning following a short illness of paralysis. Mrs. Engle suffered a stroke of paralysis Monday morning.
She was born in Adams County, May 22, 1851, a daughter of Henry and Jean (Jane) Haverfield Barnett. On August 29, 1872 she was united in marriage to John D. Engle, who proceded her in death nine years ago.
To this union six children were born. One daughter, Elizabeth May, died at the age of 11. Three daughters and two sons survive: Mrs. Martha J Reams of near Monroe; Mrs. Edna Johnston of Rome City; William Engle of near Decatur; Leo Engle of near Monroe; and Eva Engle at home. Fifteen grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Mary Weldy of Indianapolis also survive.
Mrs. Engle was united with the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1872 and later with the Friends Church.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home near Monroe with the Rev. W. H. Knodell of Huntington College, Huntington officiating. Burial will be made in the Decatur Cemetery.
