Marvin Spivey, 72, of Columbus, GA died at the Medical Center of Columbus Wednesday, August 5, 2009. Funeral services were held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, August 10, 2009 in the Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road Chapel. Burial followed in Parkhill Cemetery. Mr. Spivey was born in Andalusia, AL, son of the late Howard Spivey and Willie Selma Maddox Spivey. He had retired after many years of dedicated service from the Transportation Department at Ft. Benning. Mr. Spivey helped untold numbers of our soldiers during his tenure in the Transportation Department by safely transporting them from location to location. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Spivey of Columbus, GA; three children, Pennie Bokina and her husband, Michael, Jacquelynn Dowling, all of Columbus, GA and step-daughter, Gina Sheffield of Alabama; three siblings, Raymond Spivey, James Spivey and Anne Clemons, all of Alabama; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends.
