She met her first husband, Richard Davison Winters of Texas, while he was serving during the civil war effort in Louisiana.
Louisa and Richard had five children together, (spouses are shown in parentheses): Lilly Sylvania Winters (William Petty), John Mack Winters, Richard Davidson Winters (Rena Fussell, Addie Aldridge), Mary Elizabeth Winters (Riley Wilson) and Ann "Nocy" Winters (John Calvin Petty, Thomas P. Neve)
Richard passed away in 1879 in Texas. In May of 1881, Louisa married Jasper Newton Dixon.

Louisa passed away on December 21, 1921 according to family bible..last known to live with her dau Lillie Winters in Rosebud, Falls Co., Tx census of 1920.
