BLAZE VICTIM, 77, DIES IN S.L. HOSPITAL
Mrs. Rachel Park, 77, 3823-5th East, victim of 3rd degree burns Monday night at her home, died in a Salt Lake hospital Tuesday at 12:30 p.m., about 18 hours after her loose clothing caught fire in the kitchen of her home.
Meanwhile, Salt Lake county deputy sheriffs investigating the tragedy, said Tuesday afternoon that "the woman's clothing ignited when she attempted to light a fire in the kitchen's coal stove." Deputies Ernest Caldwell and John Thomas, in a final report, added that "apparently no inflammables were used and there was no foul play indicted."
Mrs. Park was born June 7, 1870, at Nephi, a daughter of William and Ellen Pass Greenhalgh. She had been a Salt Lake resident about 49 years. She was married to Alexander Joseph Park about 49 years ago in Salt Lake City. Mr. Park died July 25.
Mrs. Park was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Agnes Helen Keller, Holladay, and Mrs. Geneva Peacock, Sugarhouse; two sons, Clifford and Duane Park, Salt Lake City; three brothers, Joseph, Herbert and James Greenhalgh, and a sister, Mrs. Sarah Jarrett, all of Nephi.
Private funeral services will be conducted at 36 E. 7th South.
