When they made Banks Hollow Road (1840s) his son Robert owned the property where present day Banks Hollow Road starts and dead ends. So the original road went through 2 Banks Farms. He was employed at the Mary Ann Furnace as well as farmed. He fathered 7 children that I know of. One daughter Eliza, was born in 1825 and is lost after the 1860 census.
I believe his full name to be James Lomis Banks. James Banks bought property from Moses Ogden. (This property was sold at auction after his death). In 1826 Licking County Tax records James Banks of Mary Ann Township was the taxpayer, he owned 2 horses and 2 cows. In 1828 J. Lomis Banks sold 60 acres of his farm. In all census and other records it was just Lomis. have seen several spelling of the name Lomis, Loomis, Lumas, Lumis, ect... One of his grandsons was named James Lomis Banks (one of Williams boys).
