If Samuel's parents were indeed Johann Adam & Maria Sibilla Pfatteicher as he is linked to, there are some questions concerning his birth and age at death. If he was indeed born in 1772, he would have been 19 in 1791 when his father filed a petition with the court and had his son Conrad become the legal guardian of Samuel. However, the document states he was under 14 which would have given him a birthyear of 1777. I have no proof why, but I believe that Johann Adam could no longer provide for his son Samuel and being that he was under 21, appointed his son Conrad to care for him. That was quite common in those days.

It has been brought to my knowledge that in the Berks Co., Deed Book 12, pg. 255 is the following:

"Whereas the said Samuel Patteicher on his petition to an Orphans Court held at Reading in the county of Berks on the 12th day of May last past [which was 1791] did pray the said court for his choice for a Guardian and the petition being admitted chose Conrad Patteicher who is approved of and appointed as Guardian for the said Samuel Patteicher Body and Estate. "

To my knowledge, Samuel and Sophia had 10 known children, including 2 unnamed infants.

This Batteicher line are descendants of the immigrant Johann Martin Pfattheicher who came to the US in 1737.
