Rachel Mylar Jett is the daughter of James Enoch Mylar, Sr. and his wife, Rachel Wilcoxson Mylar who married William Bryant after James' death at an early age. Rachel Wilcoxson was the daughter of John Wilcoxson and Sarah Boone, the granddaughter of Squire Boone, and the niece of the famous frontiersman, Daniel Boone.

Rachel was born in Kentucky in 1788 or early 1789; her father died in 1788-1789. She died, probably, in 1826 in Breathitt County, Kentucky.

Her last name is Mylar. Misspelled by parents who could not read or write. In some documents her father shows up as Mealler, others as Millar. It probably should have been today's spelling, "Miller" as it was pronounced. Her brother, James Enoch Mylar, Jr. was a pioneer of Illinois, and his sons, James Letcher, Isaac and Enoch were early pioneers of Missouri and later, California, there in 1850 for the gold rush. All people with this "Mylar" spelling are most likely related.

Additional notes:

In 1940 Elvira (Bryant) Helton (1877-1955) told her grandson, George Wood, that Rachel Mylar, who married Stephen Jett, was the great granddaughter of Squire Boone.

Lydia (Neal) Mylar, in about 1906, decided to write down her story of the Mylar family. Near the beginning she states, "The Mylar family was related to Daniel Boone by marriage". [This in incorrect, as they were blood relatives.]

1790 census in Yadkin Valley, Rowan Co. NC, lived John Wilcoxson Sr. next door was John Jr. then a neighbor, and widow, Rachel Miller. This was John's daughter Rachel (Wilcoxson) Mylar who lost her husband a year before. Neither Rachel nor William Bryant could read or write and would not have known how to spell Mylar. The name Mylar at that time was pronounced Millar. In Rachel's family are 2 males under 16 years and 2 females.

Otis Jett, "The Widow Rachel Wilcoxson lived across Bear Creek from her mother and sister in law."

A quote from "Some of Her Life Experiences" by Dr. Owens-Adair on page 213. "Mrs. Rachel (Mylar) Kindred was born in Kentucky in 1822, and is the great-grand niece of the celebrated Daniel Boone." Rachel is the daughter of James Mylar Jr. and Henrietta Jett. James is the son of James Mylar Sr. and Rachel Wilcoxson.

Rachel (Wilcoxson) Mylar's second marriage was to William Bryant in 1790. Their first child was Jeremiah Bryant, born, 20 August 1791.
