He held Methodist services in his house for most of his life, and held quarterly meetings under a large oak tree on his property, called the "Muster tree." He worked for a time building a chapel, completing the Randall Chapel Methodist Church in 1897, shortly before his death in 1898. He is buried in his chapel's cemetery.
