"DIED.
In Saguache, Colo., Tuesday, July 7, 1896, Feliciana, wife of James Fullerton, aged 44 years, 7 months and 2 days.
Mrs. Fullerton's maiden name was Trujillo. She was born in Ojo Caliente, New Mexico, and came to Costilla County, this state [Colorado], when she was 10 years of age. She was married to Mr. James Fullerton on Oct. 21, 1866, and two years later removed with her husband to this county [Saguache], and lived in this vicinity until her death. Besides her husband, seven children mourn her departure--Mary, Emily (Mrs. O'Brien, of Canon City), James, Humphrey, Sarah, Feliciana and Thomas. For a number of years Mrs. Fullerton had been an invalid and a great sufferer, and death came as sweet relief to the poor pain-wracked sufferer.
The funeral occurred yesterday afternoon from the house and a large number of friends followed the remains to their last resting place. A faithful and devoted wife, a loving, indulgent mother, may she rest in peace."
**************
According to the census records, they had the following children: Marguerite Trujillo Fullerton (adopted by James); Mary, Emily, James B., Julia, Christiana, Humphrey, Sarah, Feliciana (Anna), and Thomas. According to the obituary of her husband, James, they had ten children and had lost three children. Marguerite, or Maggy, was a Ute Indian, the daughter of Chief Sapiwanero [according to the John Lawrence diary] who had been adopted by the Fullertons.
