"Funeral Services Are Held Monday
At Ross Funeral Home
For Mrs. Ernest Parlier, Who Was Called Last Friday After A Lingering Illness
Mrs. Ernest Parlier passed away at 7:15 p.m. Friday, February 28th, at her home in Walnut, following a long illness. Funeral services were held from the Ross funeral home Monday afternoon at two o'clock, with Rev. W. T. Street, pastor of the Methodist church officiating. Hymns were sung by Mrs. Harry Bolz and Miss Joan Ross, with Mr. Gifford Wheeler at the piano. Casket bearers were John Winger, Frank Bullington, R. E. Fogt, J. B. McCarthy, Fred Vosberg, and Ed. Hammerle. The remains were laid to rest in the Walnut cemetery.
Zula Alva Malin, daughter of Harry and Viola Stalter Malin, was born August 20, 1880, in the state of Ohio. She came to Walnut in 1886 when a small girl and has since made her home here.
She was united in wedlock to James Dodd in 1898 and to this union two children were born, who survive. In 1918 she was united in marriage to Ernest Parlier of Walnut. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Junie Bohm and Mrs. Hazel Willivize of Walnut; six grandchildren; one brother, Earl Stafford of Kansas City, Missouri.
Mrs. Parlier united with the Baptist church in 1903, and remained faithful to her sacred vows until death. She was gentle and kindly in spirit and ever faithful in all of her relationships to her family and her home. She was highly respected by all who knew her.
Those from a distance who attended the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Fred Parlier and family, Peoria; Mrs. Florence Smeltzer, Mrs. Adele Bond, of Springfield."
