Anna Matthews ROCKLAND Anna (Auer) Matthews, 97,on August 17, 2009 one week short of her 98th birthday. She was born in Bad Orb-Spessart, Germany daughter of Jacob and Sofie Auer. She came to the United States in 1953 settling in Dorchester where she resided until moving to Rockland in 1971. Anna was married to the late Joseph B. Matthews for 56 years prior to his death in 2001. She is survived by her daughters, Waltraud Warwick and Wilma Andrade and her husband Ulysses all of Rockland. Anna shared a love for her grandchildren that was beyond imagination and she will be missed by Anna, Joseph, Michael and Derek. Also surviving are great-grandchildren Lorena, Joseph, Vincent, David, Steven, Christina, Alyssa, Noah, Aiden and Madeline as well as great great-grandson Ryan. She was predeceased by her grandson Robert and her siblings Gustav, Philip and Johann. A Funeral will be held from the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union St ROCKLAND on Friday August 21, 2009 at 8:15 AM. A Funeral Mass will follow in Holy Family Church at 9:00 AM. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Thursday August 20, 2009 from 5-8 PM. Donations may be made to the Hospice of the South Shore, 100 Baystate Dr. Braintree, MA. 02184.
