CHARLES O. ABRAHAMSON
Charles O. Abrahamson, son of John August and Fredricka Abrahamson, was born in Sweden Dec. 4, 1876, and passed away at his home at 723 Auburn Ave., Chariton, May 14, 1960, at the age of 83 years, five months and 10 days.
He was the eldest of five children. He came to the United States with his parents when he was 4 1/2 years old, and lived the remainder of his life on farms in Lucas and Wayne counties. He was master of many trades.
On Feb. 28, 1906, he was united in marriage to Cynthia Miller in Chariton. To this union were born six children: Mildred, who passed away at the age of seven years, Mary Feight of Chariton, Evelyn McCormick of Indianola, Lavon DeJoode of Knoxville, Pearl Abrahamson of Dodge Center, Minn., and Glenn Abrahamson of Russell.
Besides his wife, Cynthia, and five children, he leaves 25 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and also two brothers, Manuel of Chariton and Walter of Williamson, and one sister, Laura Duckworth of Chariton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Esther Ballard, and the one daughter.
In young manhood he was affiliated with the Christian church of Williamson.
Funeral services were held at the Miley Chapel Tuesday, May 16, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. P. H. Blunt officiating. Burial was in Oxford cemetery. Pallbearers were the grandsons: Dwain McCormick, Eddie DeJoode, Carl DeJoode, Jerry DeJoode, Bob Buckalew and Arnold Abrahamson.
