SURGOINSVILLE: Margie Gilreath Rutledge was born December 1, 1911, and went to her heavenly home on May 7, 2005, at the age of 93. She was born in Scott County, Virginia but spent most of her life in Hawkins County. She was a charter member of Oak Dale Central Baptist Church and was a member of Fairview Chapter # 80, Order of Eastern Star. She worked for 25 years in food service at Surgoinsville High School.
She was preceded in death by one son, Gale Rutledge, her parents, Lloyd and Virgie Carter Gilreath, two sisters, Buna Vesta Gilreath and Emily Blair, four brothers, Everette Gilreath, Holly Gilreath, Leonard Gilreath and Paul Gilreath.
She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Leo and Loretta Rutledge, Jonesboro, Indiana, W. E. Rutledge, Surgoinsville; one brother, Bob Gilreath, Surgoinsville; three sisters, Ruth Armstrong, Martha Crawford and Margaret Wallen, all of Surgoinsville; four grandchildren, six step grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, twelve step great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 P. M. Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence.
Services will be conducted Tuesday at 8:00 P. M. in the funeral home chapel with Elder Fred Gilreath, Rev. Jerry Anderson and Rev. Ken Christian officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Dale Cemetery.
The family request those desiring may make memorial contributions to the charity of choice.
