Homegoing services for Mr. Albert Jennings, Sr., 86 who passed away Saturday, August 15, 2009 at University Community Hospital, will be held Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church of College Hill, 3838 N. 29th Street, Tampa, FL, with the pastor, Reverend Dr. Evan Burrows, officiating. Interment will follow in Orange Hill Cemetery.
He was born on January 14, 1923 in Lakeland, Florida, to the late Mr. & Mrs. Willie (Clifford) Jennings, Sr. His family later moved to Tampa, where he attended the public schools of Hillsborough County. He was employed as a truck driver for Banana Trading Company until the company closed. He retired briefly and later decided to return to work as a truck driver for Blue Eyes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 63 years, Mrs. Rutha Mae Wright Jennings; two daughters, Mrs. Deloris G. Senia and Mrs. Beverly J. Stevens; son, Mr. George Harris; mother-in-law, Mrs. Carrie Richardson; 3 grandchildren; seven brothers and three sisters.
He leaves to cherish memories of him: son, Mr. Albert Jennings, Jr.; daughter,Mrs. Virginia A. Polite of Tampa; brother, Mr. Edward Lee Jennings, Sr. (Bettye) of Gainesville; sisters, Mrs. Barbara J. Murphy of Riverview and Mrs. Gloria Blount (Robert) of Decatur, GA; sisters-in-law, Thelma, Edna, Sarah and Dorothy; brother-in-law, Mr. William (Bill) Daniels, all of Tampa; 15 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; 18 great-great–grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
His remains will repose from 5 – 9:00 P.M. and the family will receive friends from 7 – 8:00 P.M. Friday, August 21, 2009 at Wilson Funeral Home, 3000 N. 29th Street.
