She married Caloway Richard Petree 14 November 1882 in Walla Walla County, Washington. He was born 28 December 1857 in Tennessee. He died 10 October 1917 in Spokane, Spokane County, WA and is buried in the Mountain View Cemetery, Davenport, Lincoln County, WA. His father was George Petree and his mother, Syntha (Turner) Petree.

Cal and Clara were enumerated in the Lincoln County, WA Territorial Census in 1887. Cal was age 28 born Tennessee. Clara was age 22 born Washington Territory. Children were born Washington Territory and they were Bessie age 4, Grover C. age 2, and Winnie age 0.

They came to the Lord's Valley several years ago, and were among the early settlers of that valley. 17 October 1889 he acquired 160 acres per the 1862 Homestead Act, NW, Section 8, 23 N Township, 37 E Range.

Her husband was a man of sturdy habits and they succeeded in making for themselves a comfortable home.

She died after a five week's illness of Typhoid Fever near Harrington, Lincoln County, WA in the Lord's Valley. At the time of her death she had six children, 2 boys and 4 girls, the eldest 11 years and the youngest a baby of 4 weeks.

The funeral in their home was attended by a large number of friends and family. .

Florence Bessie Petree born December 1883 WA. She died 6 November 1930 Seattle, King County, WA. She married at age 19 to Lee Finley Moore on 7 October 1903 Spokane, Spokane County, WA. He was age 21 born in Kansas and working as a clerk.

Grover Petree born December 1884 Washington Territory and he died 20 July 1902 and is buried in the Mountain View Cemetery, Davenport, WA.
From the Wilbur Register Newspaper; "Grover Petree, son of C. R. Petree, a merchant of Davenport, died at Spokane last Sunday morning as a result of an accident at Davenport on Thursday evening, in which a rifle discharged. The bullet struck the victim in the bowels and he was taken to Spokane."


Winifred "Winnie" Eva Petree born October 1886 Washington Territory. She married at age 23 to George Edward Tonhofer 2 December 1911 Spokane, Spokane County, WA. He was 23 years old and born in Brookings County, South Dakota. Edward was working as a collector and she was a stenographer.

Agnes Petree born November 1888 WA.

Ira C. Petree born February 1892 in WA. He died 13 December 1938 Spokane, Spokane County, WA.
He married at the age of 24 to Dorothy L Cheney 16 February 1916 Spokane, Spokane County, WA. This was his first marriage and she was divorced. He was an electrician and she was a teacher.

About 1873 Cal moved with his parents from Tennessee to Linn County, Oregon. 5 years later Cal went to Walla Walla County, WA where he married Clara and they then homesteaded in Lincoln County, WA 12 miles south of Davenport in the Lord's Valley.

Cal married second to Millie Emily (Kirkin) Loster - Hart 11 January 1897 Spokane, Spokane County, WA. She was age 41 and he was age 39. This was her third marriage. Her father was Isaac Kirkin and her mother, S. R. (Loster or Laster) Kirkin. He was a grocery man in Davenport, WA when they married and she was a hotel keeper.

Obituary for Millie's second husband from the Davenport, WA times 25 January 1895. . "Hart, James: (1854-1895) "Mr James Hart, of Duck Lake Draw, one of the oldest settlers of that section, died on the 15th of this month at the home of his mother in Colorado, where he went about a month ago on a visit. He had been in poor health for some years, and recently went to Colorado hoping the change would benefit him. He leaves a wife and 5 children to mourn his loss, who are all on the farm on Duck Lake Draw."
