Calvin Alber Dies At 87: WALTON - Calvin H. Alber, 87, Rt. 2, Walton, died at 2:30 a.m. Monday at Memorial Hospital, Logansport. Born in Fulton County on May 31, 1893, he was the son of Daniel and Margaret Dill Alber. He was married on May 31, 1916, to Emma Celeste Burton, who died Sept. 22, 1969. A graduate of Manchester College, he had a master's degree from Indiana University. He taught for 40 years in Cass and Fulton counties, including the Onward and Pipe Creek schools. He was member of the Anoka United Methodist Church, a 50-year member and past master of the Walton Masonic Lodge, a member of the Gideon Society, the Onward Grange and the Walton Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving are two sons, Paul V., Manchester, Mich.; and Clyde B.,[Clyde Burton Alber] Cocoa Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Faith E., Tucson, Ariz.; and Ruth Mayhill, Rt. 7; three sisters, Winifred Chitwood and Mary Allen, both of Los Angeles, Calif; and Anita Bowman, Long Beach, Calif.; one brother, Theodore, Stuart, Fla.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. One sister and two brothers preceded him in death. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Wolf Funeral Home, Walton, with the Rev. Dave Arnold officiating. Burial will be in Fletcher Lake Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday. The Onward Grange will conduct services at 7:30 p.m. and the Walton Masonic Lodge will hold services at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideon Society.
