George worked for the American Sheet and Tin Plate factory. George lost his life by electrocution. The Elwood Call Leader writes on August 1, 1913: "Giving his life as a sacrifice in the effort to save the father from electrocution, George Howard, age 28, sustained an electrical shock at the James Howard home on North Anderson street early last evening, which a few hours later resulted in his death." A summer storm had caused high voltage wiring to be crossed with telephone lines, which resulted in the deadly situation.
