World War II German Spy. On January 31, 1941, Corporal Jakobs parachuted into Ramsey in Huntingdonshire, England. He was not only spotted landing, but had also broken his ankle so he was easily apprehended. He was court marshalled for treachery and espionage. He was convicted and as a result was sentenced to death by firing squad. He was strapped to a chair and shot. Jakobs was the last person executed in the Tower of London. His body was buried in an unmarked grave at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery.
