ABE PRATHER Dies After Week's Illness with Paralysis
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ABRAHAM PRATHER, a well known colored man of this city, died at his home in southwest Chariton on Tuesday afternoon, January 24, 1905, at the age of about sixty years. Funeral services conducted by Rev. F.B. Palmer at the Baptist Church were held at the African M.E. Church this afternoon at two o'clock after which the remains were interred in the Chariton Cemetery.
"ABE" PRATHER had resided in this city for many years and was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him. He was honest, industrious, of good habits, and had many friends who sincerely mourn his death. About twenty years ago he was married to MRS. MASON, who survives him and who is in a pitiable condition, as she became blind a few years ago and is almost destitute. Two sisters of MR. PRATHER are also living there. They are MRS. RHODA WILLIAMS and MRS. WILLIAM MARTIN. These sorrowing ones have the sympathy of the entire community.
