Joseph Zutell was a Civil War veteran. He first served at the rank of private with Co. K, 2nd Pennsylvania Infantry, April 20 - July 26, 1861. He then enlisted in York August 24, 1864, and mustered into federal service at Harrisburg August 26 as a private with Co. K, 200th Pennsylvania Infantry. He was promoted to corporal March 25, 1865, and honorably discharged with his company on May 30, 1865. He was a shoemaker by trade and stood 5' 8" tall with dark hair and blue eyes.
