Barbara Lynn Tennant, 55, of Fairview, passed away Saturday (Jan. 26, 2008) at Fairmont General Hospital. She was born July 10, 1952, in San Antonio, Texas, a daughter of Herbert R. Tennant of Fairview and the late Nedra Olive Tennant.

Barbara was a graduate of Fairview High School Class of 1970 and a graduate of West Virginia Business College Class of 1972. She was one of the first women coal miners in West Virginia. She worked at Barrackville Mine, Martinka Mine and Enlow Fork Coal Mine. She loved arts and crafts and was a former employee of the Arts and Crafts Store in Fairmont.

She was a member of the Pumpkin Center Church of Christ.

In addition to her father, she is survived by two sisters and two brother-in-laws, Julia and Mike Starkey of Jakes Run and Rebecca and Roger Sine of McSherrytown, Pa.; a brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Lori Tennant of Mooresville; a niece, Elizabeth Tennant; nephews, David Tennant, Robert and Joseph Sine, Steve Starkey; Matt and wife Carmen Starkey; and numerous friends and children who knew her by Aunt Barb.

Family and friends may call at Domico Funeral Home Curry Chapel Fairview Tuesday from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. Barbara will lie in state at the Pumpkin Center Church of Christ Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. in the church with Evangelist Randy Cook and Evangelist Mark Jones officiating. Burial will follow at the Tennant Cemetery Jakes Run.
