Mrs. Joe C. Weber

Services for Mrs. Joe C. Weber, 79, Dorchester, correspondent for the Daily Heard for many years, who died in a Marshfield hospital Monday, will be held in Dorchester Saturday

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church. The Rev James Schaefer will officiate and burial will be in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call after 3p.m. Friday at Maurina Funeral Home in the Dorchester, where there will be a ladies Altar Society rosary at 4 p.m., a parish rosary at 8:30 p.m., and a Ladies Catholic Order of Foresters rosary at 8 p.m., all on Friday

The former Marjorie G. Hall was born May 17, 1899 in Johnstown Center. She was married to Joe C. Weber May 27 1919, in Abbotsford. He survives. Mrs. Weber graduated from Whitewater Normal in 1918 and taught school in Rock County. In 1922 the couple moved to Dorchester, where they operated a bowling alley. They moved to the town of Holton, where Mrs. Weber taught in the Barrey and Picket Grade School and the couple farmed. In 1968 they moved back to Dorchester.

Mrs. Weber held national office in the Catholic Rural Life Conference. She helped organize the Senior Citizens organization in Dorchester, serving as its first president. She was a member of the Rosary Ladies Council, the American Legion Auxiliary and she had been a 4-H club leader for 11 years. She taught catechism at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Milan for many years. Mrs. Weber was also correspondent for the Abbotsford Tribune Phonograph.

Survivors besides her husband include a son, Arnold, Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Mrs. Mary Christie, Chetek; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
