She was born July 15, 1924, in Knox County, Ky., a daughter of the late John Robert Hembree and Celia Miller Hembree. She had been a member of New Vine Missionary Baptist Church for 54 years, and was saved in 1944.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Fred Golden and the Rev. Charlie Browning; daughter, Roxie Mae Maiden; son, Charles Edmond Browning; brother, Wesley Hembree; stepson, Earl Browning; and stepdaughter, Mossie Collins.
Survivors include her daughter, Hazel Russell (Roger) Beeler, Jefferson City, Tenn.; stepdaughters, Trula Bray, Thelma Miracle, Opal Webb and Hazel Evans, all of Frakes; stepsons, Clarence Browning, Middlesboro, Donald Browning, Homer Browning, and John D. Browning, all of Frakes, and Roy Browning, Maynardville, Tenn.; brother, Caleb (Betty) Hembree, Erlinger, Ky.; four grandsons, Freddie (Selina) Golden, Morristown, Tenn., Charles (Melody) Russell Jr., Warren-Robbins AFB, Ga., Jamie (Jill) Browning, Clairfield, Tenn., Stephen (Jelena) Browning, Morristown, Tenn.; a host of great-grandchildren; special friends. Nina Mayes, Nona Hatfield, Astor Simpson, Steve Niccum, Buddy and Eula Massengill.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Vine Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dana Akins, the Rev, William Bradley and the Rev. Astor Simson presiding. Music will be provided by the New Vine Missionary Baptist Church choir.
Interment will be in New Vine Cemetery at Frakes. Pallbearers will be her grandsons Freddie Golden, Charles Russell Jr., Jamie Browning, Stephen Browning, and Melvin Mink, Ricky Dixon, Wayland Miracle, and Johnny Partin.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Friday at Creech Funeral Home, Middlesboro, which is in charge of arrangements.
