Death of Aged Resident
Saloma Kaser Thomas, daughter of John and Phoebe Kaser, was born in Holmes county, Ohio, 16 June 1867, and passed away at her county home near LaFayette, Illinois, Friday, December 24 1920, at the age of 53 years, 6 months, and 8 days. She was one of thre children, one dying in infancy. When she was 8 years of age, the family moved to Nebraska, there she met and married Elwood Thomas, 10 June 1884. To this union were born five children, one infant, which has gone before. There survives to mourn her departure, her huaband, three sons, John Ray, of Billings, Montana, Herbert Elwood and Harry Rockford of Victoria, Illinois, and one daughter, Margaret Pheobe Pierce of LaFayette, Illinois, also one brother, Pearl L. Kaser, Galesburg, Illinois, five granddaughters and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family moved to Illinois in the year 1897 and since then has resided on their farm, with the exception of a few years spent in LaFayette.
She united with the Methodist Episcopal church at the age of twenty years and was a member of the church at LaFayette at the time of her death.
Her last illness dates since last August and altho she recovered sufficiently to be up, she never regained her health, gradually failing until November 19 when she again became bedfast and altho she made a brave fight and rallied several times, she finally passed to her reward on Friday, 24 December 1920.
During her long illness she never complained and was constantly thoughtful of others. She was an ideal wife and mother and loved by all who knew her. She was an ideal wife and mother and loved by all who knew her. Her whole life was one of loving deeds of kindness to everyone within her reach.
Funeral services were held at the late ome at 1:30 Monday, conducted by the Reverend J.T. Bliss, of Maquon, a former pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church, assisted by the Reverend C.E. McOmber. There was a wealth of beautiful floral offerings and the home was filled with the friends who came with saddened hearts to pay their last token of respect to her who was so universally beloved.
Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Mr. and Mrs. C.G. Reed, Miss McOmber and F.L. White. The casket bearers were George Coleman, John McKirgan, Jesse McIlravy, Howard Pierce and Ernest Bliss. Interment was in the family lot in the LaFayette cemetery.
Among those from out of town who attended the services were: Ray Thomas, of Billings, Montana; Mrs. George Mills, Mr. and Mrs. Rogers, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wolcott, of Kewanee; Mr. and Mrs. P. Kaser and son, of Galesburg; Dan McClenahan, of Lincoln, Nebraska; Carl, Frank and Edna McClenahan, of Toulon; Miss Maude Thomas, of Peoria; and many others from Victoria and surrounding towns whose names we failied to learn.

Victoria, Knox county, Saloma Thomas, female, white, married born 16 June 1867, age 53 years, 6 months and 8 days, a housewife, born in Ohio to Joseph Kaser born Ohio and Pheby Sutner born Ohio. She died 24 December 1920 of acute dilatation from endocarditis, she had acute rheumatic arthritis. The certificate was signed by G.S. Barger M.D. of Victoria, she was buried in LaFayette on 27 December, E.S. Willard of Williamsburg was the undertaker. Her son Herbert E. Thomas of Victoria was the informant.
