Chester Sparks - 1961-2009

Chester Sparks, 48, of Rush, Ky., died Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at his residence.


He was born March 16, 1961, in Ashland, Ky., a son of Pearl Scoffield Sparks of Chester, S.C., and the late David Sparks.


He was a truck driver and formerly employed with GC Express in Wheelersburg, Ohio. He attended Skyline Baptist Church and was a past member of 201st Engineering Battalion of the National Guard in Olive Hill, Ky.


Additional survivors include his wife, Patricia Selby Sparks of Rush; sons Samuel Sparks of Watertown, N.Y., and Jacob Sparks of Rush; daughters Faith Ryan White and her husband, Jason, of Watertown, Christen Michelle Rice and her husband, Jason, of Catlettsburg, Ky., and Cassandra Nicole Blair and her husband, Michael, of Ashland; brothers Lloyd Sparks and his wife, Madessa, of Alabama, John Sparks and his wife, Chrissy, of Chester, David Sparks of Ashland and Billy Sparks and Mark Sparks, both of Chester; sisters Jessie Lambert and her husband, Ernie, of Ashland and Pam Sandy of Greenup, Ky.; and grandchildren Damian, Angelina, Samantha, Christopher and John Michael.


A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, at Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum Chapel by nephews Gary Selby Jr. and Robert Alexander. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.


Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland.
