Joy "Rusty" Mann Carpenter, age 83 of Pecos passed away at the Woodlands Health Care Center in Houston. She was born in Snyder, Texas, to Robert C. and LaVelma (Russell) Mann. She was a longtime resident of Pecos and a member of the Barstow Baptist Church. She attended school in Pecos and was a Pecos High School graduate. "Rusty" was in the land title business for many years. She worked at Pecos Abstract Co. then later Western Abstract and Title Co. also located in downtown Pecos. She was a well known and respected business woman with ranchers and many businesses in Pecos.
She is survived by one son, Paul Winston Chandler, M.D. and wife Wendy; two daughters, Linda Fox and Ava Gerke and husband Calvin; stepsons, Johnny Carpenter, Ronald Larned, Donald Larned and David Larned; one brother, William Mann; one sister, Margie Sharon Core;and seven grandchildren, Joseph Chandler, Louis Chandler, Max Chandler, Tracy Hawthorn, Robert Fox, Luke Hoelscher, Clayton Hoelscher.
Her funeral service was held on Thursday, August 20, 2009 at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel, followed by buirial at Fairview Cemetery in Pecos.
