Edwin Moses Currier was the son of Moses Currier and Mary Bartlett Currier. Although his headstone carving gives a birth date of 2 July 1822, his birth record gives the date as 2 July 1823.
In 1846, Edwin married Ruth Nutter, the daughter of Nathan Nutter and Ruth Bagley Nutter, in Amesbury, Massachusetts. Edwin and Ruth had one child, Phillip Osgood Currier, born in 1847. Edwin left his wife and child between 1855 (when he was recorded with them in the Massachusetts State Census) and 1857 (when he married Sarah A Haines in Indiana). No divorce record has been found online, but since his first wife seems to have known Edwin's whereabouts (as evidenced by her recording herself a widow only after his death), it is hoped that Edwin divorced, rather than abandoned, Ruth.
In 1857, Edwin married Sarah Ann Haines, the daughter of John Haines, Jr and Minerva Howell Haines, in Indiana. Edwin and Sarah moved to Colorado in 1864. They had ten children, four of whom died in infancy.
