He was the son of Carl Schertz and Rosalio Arzie.

Carl Schertz, 86, of Converse, died Friday at his home. Services Saturday at 3:30 at Riebe funeral home, the Rev. Ernest Tischhauser officiating. Interment in Converse cemetery. Survivors, his widow, Mrs. Anna Schertz; daughters, Mrs. Alford Brehm, Miss Alma Schertz of Converse and Mrs. Hugo Brehm of Cibolo; sisters, Mrs. Mary Schertz and Miss Ida Schertz of San Antonio. Pallbearers are his grandsons, Erwin Meurin, Carlos Meurin, Malford Brehm, Alton Brehm, Ernest Kolterman and Arno Thschoepc.
