Born on October 14, 1917 in Evanston, WY, she was the second of seven children born to James and Margaret Aldax. They had a ranch there, and Marie was her dad's little sheep herder; he could always count on her to bring home the strayed sheep. From Wyoming they moved to Coarsegold, where she met her first husband Stanley; both families were neighboring ranchers there. Stanley and Marie traveled a lot as Stanley worked for the California State division of Highways, but still found time to enjoy life and have fun. As WWII began Stanley was shipped overseas and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. During WWII they lived in Santa Barbara, CA. where her daughter Karen was born. Marie made it her mission to make sure care packages were sent to service men overseas; she always had a heart for service men who risked their lives to protect us and our country's freedom.
In 1956 Marie and Karen moved to Chico, where Marie met and married William "Bill" Carlson in 1963. They settled in Paradise, CA. in 1970. She spent 22 wonderful years with Bill traveling all over. Some of their favorite places were Trinidad, Virginia City, Carson City, and Chester. They loved to spend time with friends playing piedro and just being together.
Marie was a strong, hard working, and very dependable woman. She was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever anybody needed it.
She preceded in death by her husband Bill, sisters Anna Baker and Louise Aldax. She leaves behind her sister Kate Verardi of Yuba City, CA. brothers John Aldax, James Aldax and Pierre Aldax all of Chico, CA. She is survived by her daughter Karen (Dick) Hamar; grandson Steve (Vicki) Coleman; granddaughter Kris (Michael) Leavell; and great grand children Kyndall, Courtney, Trevor Leavell and Tyler Coleman all of Chico, CA.
