Ilene Hanks Kingsbury, 76, businesswoman, teacher and writer, died July 2, 1981 at home.
Born April 25, 1905 in Parowan, Utah to Samuel and Mabel Whitney Hanks.
Married December 20, 1929, Salt Lake Temple Ronald Lovesy Kingsbury.
Graduated from the University of Utah and taught school. For 32 years she was a partner in her husband's accounting business. She also owned her own printing shop for 20 years. She published short storied and articles extensively in the LDS Church magazines and Western Historical journals. She helped write history books for the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and contributed to the first LDS Family Home Evening Manual.
For 41 years she taught literature and theology of Relief Society. Served as President of the Salt Lake Chapter of the Utah Historical Society, the Welsh Club, Lady Lions and MIA.
Survivors: Mrs. Kenneth (Frances) Lorman, Sacramento, California; Mrs. Robert (Elizabeth) Lowry, Blackfoot, Idaho; Mrs. Leon (Louise Kingsbury) Peterson, Centerville, Utah; Mrs. John (Kathleen Kingsbury) Alley, Santa Barbara, California; ten grandchildren; brother and sister, J Whitney Hanks, Mabel Jean Wilkinson, both Salt Lake City; Mrs. Roy (Beth) Walker, Los Angeles, California.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at noon, Colonial Hills 2nd Ward Chapel, 1455 South 1799 East, where friends may call Tuesday one hour prior to services. Funeral Directors Larkin Mortuary, Salt Lake City, Utah. Burial, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
