WELCH

Betty Welch was born October 28, 1938, near LeRoy, Decatur County, Iowa to Arthur and Mary Joy. She passed away July 22, 1991 at Des Moines, Iowa.

She attended elementary school at Millerton and graduated from Chariton High School in 1956. She married Dale Black on June 15, 1956 and to this union three children were born, Cheryl, Kevin and Steve. During their marriage they farmed in the Millerton area.

After Dale's death in 1979, she remained on the farm until the time of her death.

On January 1, 1983 she married Bud Welch. This union also had many happy memories for all the family.

Preceding her in death, besides her first husband, were her parents and an infant son, Kevin.

She is survived by her husband, Bud; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Steve Peasley of rural Chariton; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Avenell Black of Chariton; two grandsons, Chris and Nick Peasley; a sister and brother-in-law, Margie and Bob Babcock of Indianola; father and mother-in-law, Wayne and Othella Black of Chariton; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

The most important things in her life were her family and enjoying all the wildlife and nature at their rural home.

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 25 at 10:30 a.m. at the Fielding Funeral Home with Pastor Les Nickell officiating. Serving as bearers were Dean Lain, Terry Lain, Stan Black, Jerry Witt, James Cleveland and Roger Larrington. Interment was in the Chariton Cemetery.
