Wolfgang was born George Wolf Fechter in Wickinwricht (Bavaria) Germany 16 Sept.1832. He immigrated to the US with his sister Anna Maria in 1854. He was listed as a Taylor on ships records. He settled in Washington, Co. WI where he was a Taylor. They had 7 children, 3 survived to adulthood. He spent some time in the upper pennsula of Michigan and by 1900 is found in Milwaukee running a general store. Original Catholic Church records from Germany, ships records, naturalization records, census records all prove the birth date as incorrect on the headstone.
