Jacob Shoemaker passed away Wednesday afternoon about 12:30 at his home in this city. He suffered a paralytic stroke last Friday and tho he was conscious most of the time since, he gradually grew weaker until a second stroke came upon him just before his death. Funeral services were held from his late home at 1 p.m. Friday afternoon and internment was in the family cemetery on the home farm northwest of town.

Obituary: Jacob Shoemaker was born in Johnstown, Pa., Dec. 20, 1836, and died at his home in Reinbeck April 14, 1915, at the age of 78 years. He was united in marriage to Maria Slonaker Dec. 15, 1859. They came west in 1867 and settled on the farm near this town where they lived until 1892 when they moved to Reinbeck. Four years after moving to town the wife and mother passed away on Nov. 30, 1896.

Twelve Children were born to them, six of whom are living, viz., Mrs. Jane Groth of Reinbeck, Mrs. Emma Kittrell of Buckingham, Geo. W. Shoemaker of North Carolina, Mrs. Geo. Watson of Reinbeck, Mrs. Alex Strayer near Hudson and Fred Shoemaker of Reinbeck.
