"PLEASANT HILL ---The graveside funeral will be held Aug. 31 for Holbert "Kirk" Martin of Pleasant Hill, who died Aug. 26 of age-related causes. He was 81.

Martin was born Nov. 11, 1916, in Summerfield, Okla., to Joseph and Mattie Martin. He attended school in Santa Ana, Calif.

He married Nina Mudgett in Vancouver, Wash., on May 18, 1940. From 1942 to 1946, Martin lived in Seattle.

A journeyman electrician and a member of Local No. 280, he retired in 1979.

His interests included hunting, fishing and horses. Martin was a member of Eugene Church of Christ on Norkenzie Road. He also belonged to Doric Lodge No. 92 in Seattle.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Darwin and Grady, both of Pleasant Hill, and Kelly of Springfield; a daughter Arleta Gleaves of Roseburg; three brothers, Ed of The Dalles, Shavor of Grants Pass and Damon of Eugene; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A son, Dee, and a grandson, Brian Gleaves, died previously.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at Buell Chapel in Springfield. Monday's service is at 3 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Cemetery."
