Hubert Lee Ammons – 83, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away Friday – September 25, 2009, in a local health care facility.
He was the son of the late Walker and Rosa Bell Ammons and was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Lee Ammons and two grandchildren Jacky Lee Bennett and Leslie Anne Armstrong ..Brothers Rupert Stanley and Dargan Ammons .
He retired from the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of WWII.
He attended Rival Church of God in Apison, Tennessee.
Survivors include his three daughters, Evelyn Reynolds, Shirley Ann Lennox, both of The Villages, FL., Eileen Owens, of Jacksonville, FL., four grandchildren, two brothers, Jimmy(James)Ammons, of Lake City, FL., Robert Lee Ammons, of TN., sister-in-law, Sadie Ammons, of Ooltewah, TN., two nephews, David Hooper, of Ooltewah, TN., Jerry Hooper, of Dalton, GA., two nieces, Rosa Marie and husband Devin Clark, Meagan and husband Aki Houser.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with military rites being conducted.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
