Robert M. Melvin of 18020 Faysmith Ave., Torrance, passed away Monday, Feb. 21, 1972, in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 1, 1931, in Mankato, Minnesota and had lived in the South Bay area for 3 years. He is survived by his wife Barbara, 3 daughters, Teresa Lynn, Rhonda and Jean; 3 sons, Christopher, Jeffrey and Mark Melvin, all of Torrance. His mother, Mary M. Strobel of Torrance, 2 sisters, Dolores Porter of Cedar City, Utah, and Evelyn Fountaine of San Jose, 3 brothers, Lloyd Melvin of Chula Vista, Eugene Strobel of Torrance and Walter Strobel of Milwaukie, Oregon. He was an elder of Ascension Lutheran Church, Torrance, and a veteran of the Korean War. Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church with Rev. Lloyd Warnekie officiating. Halverson-Leavell Mortuary of Torrance directing. Interment will follow in Pacific Crest Cemetery, Gardena.
