Died at Carlyle, Kansas, Feb. 1, 1903, of pneumonia and heart trouble Mrs. D. C. Adams, age 82. She moved with her family from Bethany, Parke county, to Carlyle, Kansas in 1869. Funeral at her late residence Monday, Feb 2, burial in the Iola cemetery.
Deceased was the widow of David Caldwell Adams who from 1851 to 1869 lived in the Bethany neighborhood. Among others in this county she was a relatives of James Mitchell of Rockville.

Notes: Delilah Jane Schmick was the daughter of Godhart and Mary "Polly" French. She was married September 7, 1836 in Mercer County, Kentucky to David Caldwell Adams, the son of Archibald Adams and Phebe Caldwell. To this union, 12 children were born: James Harvey, William Casper, Laura Phoebe (Susan), Archibald Montgomery, Mary Elizabeth, Margaret Sophronia, Charles Eberly, Erminny Maria Arenia, Cynthia Etta, Allen Rice, Emma Bethia, and Martha Amanda.
