Allison is the son of James G. Orrill and Fanny Watts. Husband of Rebecca Francis Biddison. Father of Martha, Nancy, Sarah Addieline, William Clayton, Harry/Henry Parker and Edgar Phillip.
Allison joined the Union Army during the Civil War, enlisting at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas on 12 Aug 1861 Company D, 5th Kansas Cavalry when Allison was just 17 years of age. He stood 5 feet, 5 inches tall, had a light complexion, blue eyes and light hair. Allison worked as a farmer before joining the service. On a Company Muster Roll dated December 1861 Allison was listed as present and under remarks was pay due for 100 miles travel. On a Company Muster Roll dated June 1863 Allison was listed as absent and under remarks he had his private horse and equipment. Absent on escort duty to Fort Scott, Kansas since 26 June 1863. Allison mustered out on 5 March 1864 at Fort Smith, Arkansas but immediately re-enlisted in Company B, 6th Kansas Cavalry as a Veteran Volunteer. Allison was paid $1.00 for arms and equipment, $100 for bounty and $18.40 for use of horse and equipment. Allison was captured at Mazard Pairie, Kansas and confined at Camp Ford, Texas. He was exchanged at Red River Landing, Louisiana on 27 May 1865. Allison was discharged on 21 June 1865.
Allison died at age 73 at the Soldiers Home from pneumonia.
