Story was he come to Miller County Arkansas after the civil war. One of their great grandsons told me before he died that he could remember going into their house in Ida Louisiana and above the fireplace was a portrait of David Evans in a Confederate uniform and his sword hung above the fireplace as well.
David enlisted in the Confedracy, Company D, 44th Georgia Infantry, Doles Brigrade March 4, 1862. Served as a Sargant. Was captured May 10, 1864 at Spotsylvania and paroled Ft Delaware, Delaware, and forwarded to City Point Virginia for exchange March 7, 1865. His service ended on the day of General Lee's surrender. His wife collected widows pension for his service to the Confederacy from 1906 to 1936.

The double headstone is actually at Bethsaida in Ida Louisiana but David J Evans is not buried there. His wife is.
