Isaac, a native of New York, was veteran of the 1812 War, holding the rank of
Colonel and was wounded in one of the battles; he was also a soldier in the
Black Hawk Wars.
Isaac was a leading and prominent man in the vicinity, and was elected Sheriff
of Edwards County. He continued as sheriff in Wabash County after it separated
from Edwards County. He was also a farmer, carpenter and builder and millwright.
He built mills throughout that area of the state.
