In 1999, Mr Gray & his brother, Pantha, were left on the front steps of our facility by their owner's landlady. She thought that he might be an inpatient so she left them in their dog crate with their names & his on a piece of paper. Staff didn't know what to do with them on a Saturday afternoon because their owner was not an inpatient so they called me.

We eventually tracked their owner down. The boys were born in Maine and had spent most of their 1 1/2 years living in the dog crate for days because the owner had issues. They were undersized for their age. So they came to live with us.

Mr. Gray loved to play moletoes (attack toes under the covers) so his name was changed to Mr. Moletoes which was shortened to Moto.

Mr. Moto had the sweetest personality. He loved everyone. But he was very unlucky in love. He adored the ground that Topaz, a feral cat household member, walked on and would have given anything to cuddle up against her just once. His daily devotion was treated with hisses and claws. He never gave up until the day she died.

Every time he heard the "Moto" commercial on TV he came running as he thought he was being called.

Mr. Moto developed acute renal failure. It could have been treated with IV fluids, antibiotics & steroids but that would have required 4-5 days in a cage. After his earlier experiences, he could not stand being in a cage or a carrier for even a few minutes. In addition, he only would live months and the problem would recur. It just wasn't fair.

Mr. Moto was cremated and has joined his fellow cat mates on the bookcase.
