JOE SILVA DIES AFTER BRIEF ILLNESS
Funeral Serviced Conducted From Catholic Church Tuesday
NEWCASTLE Jan. 10, (JS) -
Joe Silva, well known local man was called by death at his home on the Walker Ranch on Saturday, January 5th. Death followed a brief illiness caused by influenza.
Silva had operated the Walker Orchard for Miss Clara Kellogg for a number of years. He was a member of the two local Portuguese Lodges the U.P.E.C. and the I.D.E.S. as well as the Liberty Club. His death was a great shock to his many friends in Newcastle and vicinity.
Funeral services were held from the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Auburn at 10 o'clock Mass Tuesday morning. Rev. Richard Vereker had charge of the services. Interment was in the Auburn cemetery.
