John Kingsley, 2nd child and eldest s. of Eldad Kingsley and Mehitable Mowry, b. of record May 6, 1665 at Rehoboth, Mass. He d. of record Mar. 17, 1733 (g.s.) at Windham, Conn. But, on its face this date represented a date in the old Julian calendar. However, he actually died Mar. 17, 1732/3 as such date is historically written in the modern Gregorian calendar.

Kingsley signed his will at Windham, Conn. on "the 17th day of March 1733," the same day he died. On its face this date would have been 8 days before March 25, 1734, latter the first day of the new English Julian calendar year of 1734. But, the witnesses to Kingsley's will gave their oath to a Justice of the Peace on Apr. 3, 1734, the will was proved at a probate court held at Plainfield, Conn. on Apr. 10, 1733 with the will transcribed into the court record on June 10, 1733 (Windham PD, 1:465-6-7). Everyone involved apparently considered the entire month of March to have been the first month of the new Julian year versus the first 24 days of March being the last 24 days days of the old English year of 1732.

On July 1, 1686 at Rehoboth, Mass., John m. 1) Sarah Sabin, dau. of Sgt. Samuel Sabin and Mary Billington, b. of record Aug. 10, 1667 at Rehoboth. Sarah's mother was the gr.dau. of John Billington, a 1620 Mayflower passenger. Sarah d. of record Mar. 9, 1709/10 at Windham, Conn., but has no known gravestone. Ten children of the family. The 8 eldest (Mary who d.y. at Windham, Tabitha, Sarah, Elizabeth, John, Amos, Josiah and Ezra) were b. at Rehoboth, the two youngest (Eliphalet who d.y. and Eldad) were b. at Windham.

On Mar 11, 1712/13 at Mansfield, Conn., John m. 2) Elizabeth Storrs, dau. of Samuel Storrs and Mary Huckins, b. of record May 31, 1675 at Barnstable, Mass. By this 2nd marriage was born two children (Ebenezer who d.y. and Lydia.) When Elizabeth (Storrs) Kingsley died is not of record.
