Mabel Charles Shertzer, 82, of Lancaster R2, died today at 5:10 a.m. at her home after a lengthy illness. She was the widow of Aaron N. Shertzer, who died in 1961. She was a member of Millersville Mennonite Church. Born in and a lifetime resident of Manor Township, she was a daughter of the late David B. and Annie K. Nissley Charles. She is survived by five children, C. Charles Shertzer, Millersville R1; Anna C. Shertzer, at home; Norman Shertzer, Lancaster R2; John C. Shertzer, Durham, NC, and Elizabeth C. Shertzer, at home; 10 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one sister, Edith, wife of Elmer Kennel, and one brother, Ivan N. Charles, both of Lancaster. (Lancaster New Era - Feb 8, 1978)
