Ralph Tipton

Ralph Tipton, age 73, of the Jacks Creek Community, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 12, 2009 at Mission Hospital's St. Joseph Campus.

A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Gus and Frankie Ann Hopson Tipton, and the husband of the late Virginia Tipton, who passed away on Wednesday, October 7th.

Ralph loved to hunt and fish and was a member of North Bend Freewill Baptist Church. He worked at Avondale for a number of years.

Surviving are two sons: Douglas Ralph Tipton and Dwayne Tipton both of Green Mountain; three sisters: Eva Lee Howell and husband, Nat, of Burnsville, Mabel Williams of Petersburg, TN and Jean Laws and husband, Bobby, of Jacks Creek; two brothers: Farrell Tipton and wife, Brenda, and Eddie Tipton and special friend, Nell, all of Jacks Creek and a granddaughter, Morgan Paige Tipton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 15th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Service. Revs. Dean Murphy, Junior Peterson and Norman Lovelace will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times will be at the home of his brother, Farrell.

Graveside Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 16th in the Fairview Cemetery on Horton Hill.
