Margaret Poole Gray, age 92, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 10, 2009. She was born June 7, 1917, in Romulus, Alabama, to the late Elizabeth Chambers Poole and Thomas Houston Poole. She graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School and the University of Alabama. Her professional career was devoted to Home Economics. She followed that career path with the Alabama Power Company and the Auburn University Extension Service. When the Extension Service sent her to Jasper, Alabama, she met her future husband, William Russell (Bill) Gray. They married late in life and were surprised to be blessed with a daughter, Mary Elizabeth. They were devoted to each other and to their daughter. Bill died suddenly in 1966 and Margaret continued to work, raise their daughter and manage Bill's real estate holdings. Margaret moved to Tuscaloosa, Alabama in 1980 and then to Little Rock, Arkansas in 1994 to be near her daughter, son-in-law and her beloved grandchildren, who knew her as "Gigi."

Margaret was known to all as a sweet and gentle person who was a loving Christian, wife, mother, sister and friend. She loved playing games of all kinds, being with her family and always put the desires and needs of others first.

Margaret was pre-deceased by her dear husband, Bill, brothers James Henry Poole, George Rufus Poole and Morris Robertson Poole, sisters Evelyn Poole, Frances Poole Sullivan and Mary Poole Morris. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Elizabeth Gray Millsap of Little Rock, Arkansas, and her husband Mark, whom she always said she loved as much as any son she could have "birthed." Grandchildren: Elizabeth Watkins Millsap, William Gray Millsap and George Mark Wood Millsap. Other survivors include sisters-in-law, Mary Gray Smith and Marjorie Poole, many nieces, nephews and great nephews and nieces. She was a lifelong Baptist and had been a member of First Baptist Church of Jasper, First Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa and Lifeway Baptist Church in Little Rock.

A memorial service officiated by Rev, David Ard will be held at 4:00 PM, Monday, October 12, 2009 in the chapel of Ruebel Funeral Home. A reception will immediately follow at the funeral home A graveside burial service will be held at Oakhill Cemetery in Jasper, Alabama, on Tuesday at 3:30 PM.
