Nellie and her husband Joe Coryell, came from Michigan in the early nineties and homesteaded in the Amity Township. They had no children of their own, so they adopted two youngsters, Bill and his sister Mina. The children attended rural school north of Omemee at what was called the George Merrick School. The Coryells purchased a piano, and Mina became an accomplished pianist. Mina married John Clark, who emigrated from Great Britain and came to the Wettlaufer's. The Wettlaufers were neighbors of the Coryells. After John and Mina's marriage, they farmed. Joe and Nellie Coryell moved in with them. Nellie died in 1923. John and Mina Clark moved to Portland, Oregon to be near Mina's brother, Bill. Joe Coryell soon followed them.
