Trissy was the daughter of Harvey Carpenter and Cynthia Moore. The original image of the 1850 census of Morgan County lists her as Terissa Carpenter, age four.

Since her father Harvey was listed in the 1840 and 1850 census of Morgan Co, KY, it is assumed she was born in Morgan Co.

She married on 28 May 1860 in Morgan Co, KY, according to their KY Marriage Record. They were listed as B. F. Carter and "Trissy" Carpenter. The infant buried with them is believed to be their infant child.

"Frank" Carter was living with his widowed father Joseph in the July 1860 Morgan Co. census. Although Benjamin Franklin was married then, his wife was not listed. Marital description was not a category in this early census.

Further, Benjamin was listed as married in his Civil War Draft Registration Record of Oct 1863, as he was married to Trissy then.

Benjamin F. married second Dorothy Ellington on 10 March 1864 in Morgan Co, KY. It is safe to say that Trissy died AFTER Oct 1863 when Benjamin was listed as married in the Civil War Draft Registration and BEFORE his second marriage to Dorothy Ellington in March 1864. Trissy's death can then be listed as 1863-1864 in Morgan County, KY. Her exact date death is unknown.

Benjamin was buried alongside his wife and infant in the family cemetery.

CARTER GRAVES
These graves are located about one mile south of Grassy Creek, KY, off Hwy 205, to the right of a bridge leading to the Bert Gevedon Farm

Something that makes these graves unique is that they are in a homemade type mausoleum. The stones used to create this mausoleum are completely surrounded by saplings and one would not realize there were graves there if they did not know what they were looking at. Mr. Bert Gevedon had tried to keep saplings cut back but roots were under the tomb.
